There are several deluxe/luxury hotels in the backwaters regions of Kerala. Kochi has the largest number of them. Next place of choice would be Kumarakom, with a number of hotels of different standards.

In India, the quality of hotels is indicated by the number of stars accorded to them. 7 – star hotels are the most luxurious with best facilities. They are rare.

5 – star luxury hotels are more common. They provide high quality services to guests. Rates/Tariffs are higher accordingly.

Then there are less costly 4 – star & 3 –star hotels, with less services and facilities.

Economy class cheap hotels are available in plenty, but the quality of accommodation and services would be less.
